Baseball Drops Season Opening Series Finale, 6-3

One weekend into their season #9 Riverside remained a shade better than #10 Cuesta after taking this weekend's series in SLO, two games to one.  The Cougars took an early lead in the rubber-match, but the Tigers held them scoreless for the last six innings and came back to win, 6-3.  Freshman First Baseman Holden Cumiskey's (Langley, BC, CAN) triple in the 2nd inning scored Designated Hitter Dalton Cram (Riverside), while Cumiskey was later plated on a groundout to give the Cougars the early lead, 2-0. The Tigers took advantage of a walk and a pair of errors in the top of the 3rd inning to even the game, but an RBI-single by Cram gave the Cougars' back the lead at the end of the frame.  Unfortunately, the Cougars managed only three more hits in the game, while the Tigers added four runs over the next three innings and claimed the game and the series.  Cram joined Shortstop Ryan Fenn (El Cajon) as the only Cougars to enjoy a multi-hit game- they both had two hits.  The Cougars are 1-2 on the season and travel to Costa Mesa next weekend for a three-game series against #1 Orange Coast.
