Undefeated Cougars Return To The Road

Undefeated Cougars Return To The Road

Softball jumped out to a hot start by sweeping a pair of doubleheaders from Bakersfield and compile four wins in their first week of competition.  On Thursday, the Cougars picked up a pair of identical wins to open the season, both 8-3, at Bakersfield and swept the Renegades, again, in SLO on Saturday, 12-7 and 10-2.  The play-by-play and statistics from Thursday have not been posted, yet, but on Saturday Second Baseman Bailee Crawford and Outfielder Julianna Lucke led the Cougars' offense.  Crawford went 5-for-7 during the twinbill, while scoring six runs and driving in three, and Lucke was 4-for-7 with three runs scored and five driven in.  Pitchers Maddy Mata and Leea Brown both picked up complete game victories from the pitching circle.  The Cougars are 4-0.

Softball is back on the road for the remainder of the season, including a pair of games this week.  The Cougars play a doubleheader at Moorpark on Thursday (1/3 PM).  The Raiders opening series at Mt San Natonio was cancelled this weekend, so Moorpark will open its season with Cuesta.
