Rain Delays Soak Cougars Weekend Hopes

Rain Delays Soak Cougars Weekend Hopes

Softball hosted #8 Sacramento for a three-game series with two games on Friday and as part of their mini-series with LA Mission on Saturday.  The Cougars lost to the Panthers twice on Friday, 7-0 and 7-4, and Sacramento completed the sweep in the mini-tournament opener, 8-0, on Saturday.  The Panthers also dropped a game to LA Mission, before hopping on their bus ahead of the rain.  The Cougars and Eagles started their three o'clock game after 4 PM and it was further delayed by rain, however Cuesta's top-notch ground crew kept the field playable for all three games, and the competition endured until darkness and good sense halted the game in the 6th inning.  The Eagles were up, 9-5, after five innings, which would normally give them a victory, however the Eagles requested a "halted game", and plan to return to SLO at a later date to complete the contest.  Cuesta is currently 4-5 on the season with a pending decision against LA Mission.

Cuesta opens Western State Conference play next week.  The Cougars travel to Santa Barbara on Tuesday (2:30) and return home to host Ventura on Thursday (2:30).  Cuesta will also host Porterville on Friday (12/2 PM) for a non-conference doubleheader.
