Cuesta Softball earned a runner-up finish in the Western State Conference, as well as the program's first playoff bid since 2015.  The Cougars travelled to Santa Clarita to face the College of the Canyons Cougars for the third time this year.  In their first meetings, a doubleheader in Santa Clarita, each pack of Cougars earned a victory, but Canyons protected their home diamond in the playoffs with a win, 4-0, last Tuesday.  In their first two meetings, Cuesta outscored Canyons, 21-18, but their playoff game was more of a pitching duel than a slugfest.  Cuesta Starter Isabella Garcia (pict) joined Canyons Nichole Muro to trade goose eggs as they combined to scatter just four hits over the game's first five innings.  Canyons finally broke through with four runs in the 6th inning, while the Cougars went down in order in the 7th and final inning.  Cuesta finished its 2024 campaign with an overall record of 22-16.  

All-Western State Conference Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the regional playoffs.
