Women's Basketball landed two sophomores on the 2023 Western State Conference teams after finishing 5th in the seven-team circuit, directly behind four playoff teams. The Cougars ended the season with a 10-18 overall record and were 3-9 in WSC play. Sophomores Olivia Missler and Sam Watanabe concluded their Cuesta careers by being accorded first team and honorable mention accolades, respectively,
Sophomore Shooting Guard Olivia Missler (Pict-L) was named to the All-WSC First Team for the second straight year and became only the 14th player in the program's 43-year history to accomplish the double. Missler drove the Cougars' offense by pacing the team with 11.6 points and 2.6 assists per contest. A dead-eye marksman, Missler's 81.3% mark from the free throw line ranks 3rd all time at Cuesta, while her career 32.8% from the three-point line ranks 9th all time. Missler also ranks 12th all time at Cuesta for career points per game at 11.8, while her 567 total career points landed her 18th in program history. She enjoyed her finest game her career against local rival Allan Hancock when she netted 29 points against the Bulldogs on January 11 to claim a spot amongst the Cougars' Top 20 all-time scoring games.
Sophomore Swingman Sam Watanabe (Pict-R) was tabbed as an all-WSC Honorable Mention selection. Watanabe was one of only five Cuesta players to play in every game this season and was third on the team with both 9.5 points and 1.6 assists per game. She also ranks right behind Missler on the Cougars' all-time three-point list at 31.4%
