Women's Water Polo returns home this weekend to host the 24th Mechanic's Bank Women's Water Polo Classic. The Classic is one of the premier tournaments in the State and features many of the top teams in the State. The Cougars open the tournament on Friday (9 AM) with Top-ranked Santa Barbara City in a game that will also double as a Western State Conference (WSC) contest. The Cougars also play American River (2:50) to close the first day's competition. On the second day, Cuesta starts against #2 Riverside and closes the tournament versus #4 Saddleback. The Cougars also host a mid-week game against #8 Ventura on Wednesday (5:30) for a men's and women's WSC doubleheader. The women's game shall be played after the men's game, which begins at 4 PM. Both games will be broad cast by Cuesta Marketing team.
Last week, Cuesta's Women Poloists travelled to Santa Cruz for the Bockman Tournament last weekend and split their four games. The Cougars beat both Modesto, 12-5, and Las Positas, 14-3, in pool play but fell twice to the host Seahawks, once in Friday's pool-play, 12-9, and again in Saturday's title game, 16-12. The Cougars are 7-6 on the season.
