Beach Volleyball spent Saturday in Gilroy with a tri-meet against host Gavilan and fellow visitor Marin.  The Cougars opened with a 4-1 win over the Sailors, who avoided the sweep with a win at the #1 pairs.  The Cougars went on to sweep Gavilan, 5-0, in their second match.   The Cougars shuffled their line-up this week and split up the team's winningest combination of Madelyn Freeman and Amelie Lo Jocano , who began the season at the #5 position. Each player boasts three match wins this season.  Last weekend, Freeman picked up a pair of wins at #2 with Taylor Vannest, while Lo Jocano paired with Naima Omega against Marin and Karlee Leary against Gilroy for another pair of wins at #3.  The Cougars are now 2-6 on the season.

The Cougars have a big hole in their schedule as the team heads into Western State Conference play.  The Sand Spikers do not hit the beach against until they face WSC foes Ventura and Moorpark on March 15.  The trio play a WSC Three-way hosted by Moorpark College at the Ventura Harbor Courts as Cuesta plays visiting (?) Ventura (11 PM) and the host Raiders (1 PM)
