Beach Splits WSC Doubleheader at Cal Poly

Beach Volleyball split a pair of Western State Conference matches in their double-dual at Cal Poly's Swanson Beach Courts.  The Cougars opened against Glendale and picked up their third win of the program's inaugural season, 4-1.  The Cougars lost at #1, but their #2 pairing of Taylor Vannest and Madelyn Freeman won 21-11 and 21-16.  The visiting Vaqueros had to forfeit their last three pairings and Cuesta picked up three more victories.   In the nightcap, Cuesta faced off against Santa Monica.  The visiting Corsairs swept through the first three rungs of the Cougars' ladder, but Amelie Lo Jocano and Olivia Sprouse went into overtime to win their sets, 23-21 and 22-20, while at the #5 pairing Remy Campbell and Cassidy Randall split their first two sets, before falling in the tiebreaker (11-21, 21-19, 7-15). The newest Cuesta sport stands at 3-11 on the season and 1-5 against the WSC.

The Sand-spikers are back in action and back on the road next Friday as they hit the sand in Bakersfield to start their second swing through the conference.  The Cougars shall face both Ventura and the host Renegades in the triple-header.  They open against Ventura at 11:30 and face Bakersfield at 1 PM.  Both teams swept Cuesta in straight sets in the first round.
