Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for May is All-State Third Baseman Zach Tallerman.

Third Baseman Zach Tallerman was tabbed as the 2022 Western State Conference Player of the Year.  Tallerman enjoyed a monster season at the plate.  He was 4^th in the State with 61 RBI and led the Cougars in Doubles (18), Triples (4) and Home Runs (9).  In May, after helping secure the Cougars' WSC Crown, he was also clutch in the post-season with two runs scored and five driven in during the Cougars' two playoff games. In the series, he went 4-for-8, including a pair of Doubles and a Home Run.  Tallerman ranks 9^th all time at Cuesta in both Doubles and Runs Batted In for a season, as well as 10^th for Triples. 

Cuesta Baseball team won the 2022 Western State Conference title, the program's 19^th, and nabbed the 7^th seed in the 2022 CCCAA Regional Playoff. The Cougars, who have missed the post-season only four times since 1990, were 25-17 on the season.
