Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month.  This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.  Our male selection for March is First Baseman Zachary Tallerman.

Returning All State Infielder Zachary Tallerman has continued to excel in the middle of the Cougars' batting order and on the corner of their infield.  Tallerman powers Cuesta's line-up and leads the team with seven home runs and 29 runs batted in, while also batting at a .357 clip.  In March, he hit safely in 11 of 12 games, while scoring 17 runs and driving in 16.  Last year, Tallerman was selected as the 2022 Western State Conference Player of the Year and his second All-State caliber season has seen him climb Cuesta's all-time rankings.  He currently ranks 5^th all time at Cuesta with 16 career home runs, 8^th for both triples (5) and runs batted in (90) and 3^rd for slugging percentage (.645)- just behind former Major Leaguer Rusty Kuntz.

Baseball is 16-10-1 overall and the reigning Western State Conference Champions are back atop the circuit with 10-5 record in conference play.  Cuesta is currently ranked 6^th in the Region.
