Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for May is Freshman Pitcher Robinson Lardner.
Freshman Southpaw Robinson Lardner was selected as the 2023 Western State Conference Pitcher of the Year, which earned him a spot on the 2023 CCCAA All State team. In May, Lardner appeared in two of the Cougars' three games against Los Angeles Valley, while tossing 7.2 shutout innings. In his series opener, he entered a tie game and kept visiting Los Angeles Valley scoreless for three innings. He also earned the victory as the Cougars rallied for the lead. Lardner also tossed 4.2 more shutout innings of relief in Saturday's finale. He entered the game with the Cougars trailing, 4-2, and handed a tie-game to the bullpen in the 8th inning. In the playoff series, which were the only baseball games in May, Lardner was 1-0 with eight strikeouts, while walking none and scattering three hits over 7.2 innings of work.
