Baseball Wraps Up Regular Season This Week

Cuesta Baseball struggled through its final full week of the season with the end of their 16-game winning streak and a trio of one-run losses.  The Cougars fell out of the Western State Conference penthouse but remain in both playoff contention and within range of their previous lofty accommodations in the WSC.  Cuesta is 1.5 games behind rival Santa Barbara and have two games left to play, while the Vaqueros have a full week with three games.  The Cougars are no longer masters of their fate, but with a pair of wins and some help from the rest of the WSC they are still within range of their third straight WSC Crown and 5th straight playoff berth.  Cuesta travels to Moorpark on Tuesday (2:30) and returns home for their regular season finale against Oxnard on Friday (2:30).

The Cougars ended last week with a 3-1 win at Los Angeles Pierce, thanks to eight strong innings from all-WSC Pitcher Jackson Cloud (pict) and a one-inning save from Reliever Lukas Ward.  Cloud and Ward rode a tightrope and held the host Brahmas to one run, despite Cuesta being out-hit, 9-5, in the game.  Cuesta is 28-10 on the season and 16-6 in WSC play.
