Men's Basketball Opens with DeAnza on Saturday

Cuesta Men's Basketball opens the 2021-22 campaign this Saturday (5 PM) at home against DeAnza.  The Cougars were one of eight CCCAA teams that played last spring, while the Dons are returning to action for the first time since February 2020.

Cuesta returns six players from last season's squad and are led by 2020-21 returning starters Logan Knuckles (Atascadero HS), Japjit Gill (Union City, CA) and 2021 Team MVP Darryl Brooks II (Menemone Falls, WI).  Brooks averaged a team-high 16.4 points for the Cougars, while adding 2.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.  Knuckles, listed at 6' 9", is the lone Center on the roster.  He averaged 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, while Gill averaged 7.3 points and 3.8 assists.  Shooting Guard Isaac Puzz (McKinleyville HS) is also expected to add offense off the bench.  He only started one game last season but averaged 7.8 points per game.  Forward Jeylen Slaton (Union City, CA) and Jordan Stowers (Templeton HS) also return another freshman season.  First-year Guard Ben Linkin (Melbourne, AUS) is expected to find a home in the Cougars' backcourt, while the Cougars reload in the paint.  Fellow Australian Kobe Pearson (Melbourne, AUS) is part of the Cougars' revamped international frontcourt.  The Cougars are also brining in Juani Dassie (Marcos Juarez, ARG), Moritz Schneider (Zurich, SUI), Reumang Emagna (Charleroi, BEL) and Ketan Sidhu (Seattle, WA).
