Cuesta Ends the Semester at the West Valley Tournament

Cuesta Men's Basketball remains on the road this week for a two-day tournament at West Valley College in Saratoga.  The Cougars face Lassen on Friday (3 PM) and Folsom Lake on Saturday (1 PM).  Cuesta is currently 3-8 on the season and has lost six of their past seven games, but they hope to halt their slide this weekend before the winter break.  Lassen, like the Cougars, has dropped their last three games and are currently 1-13 on the season, so both teams will be pressing for a victory in the tournament opener.  Saturday's foe, Folsom Lake is known as a run-and-gun team that started the season slowly, but the Falcons have now won three of their past four games, including a 100-point effort last Saturday at Hartnell.

Last Saturday, the Cougars fell at Fresno City, 81-68.  Cuesta was slow off the bus and dropped behind, 38-28, before the intermission, however played even with the host Rams in the second half.  Returning Freshman Darryl Brooks II (Menemonee Falls, WI) posted his first career double-double with 14 points and team-highs of 10 rebounds and three assists, while Freshman Juani Dassie (Marcos Juarez, ARG) led the Cougars with a team-high 19 points.  Cuesta is 3-8 on the season
