Cuesta Cagers Get Folsom Lake Blues in Loss, 95-65

Men's Basketball fell to Folsom Lake, 95-65, in the West Valley Tournament opener.  The loss marks Cuesta's fourth straight setback and drops the Cougars to 4-9 on the season.  The Cougars usual pinpoint outside shooting abandoned them, while the Falcons were on target from everywhere. Cuesta dialed long-distance all night against Folsom Lake, but converted only eight of their 29 three-point attempts, while the Falcons made 10 three-pointers and converted over 50% of their shots from beyond the arch.  Freshman Juani Dassi (Marcos Juarez, ARG) led Cuesta in scoring for the second straight night with 12 points, while a trio of Cougars each netted 11 points.  Point Guard Japit Gill (Union City, CA) scored 11 points and led Cuesta with both four assists and four rebounds.  The loss dropped the Cougars to 4-9 on the season.

Cuesta was originally scheduled to play Lassen tomorrow night, but the "other" Cougars dropped out of the tournament, so Cuesta will have a rematch with host #8 West Valley.  Cuesta lost to the then undefeated Vikings in double-overtime, 96-90, to open the Grossmont Tournament on December 3.  The Cougars play West Valley in Saratoga tomorrow (1 PM) before taking a 10-day hiatus.
