Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for December is Cager Mason Romano.
Forward Mason Romano's all-court game has been a key to the Cougars' success against one of the toughest pre-conference schedules in the State. Romano is the only natural post player in the Cougars' starting line-up and his team-highs of 9.4 rebounds, 1.8 blocked shots and 1.6 steals per game are a testament to his effectiveness in the paint. On offense, he averages 16.3 points per game and is second on the team with 3.5 assists per contest. Romano has posted six double-doubles this season. His 16-point and 17-rebound performance against Chabot on December 30 marked the most rebounds by a Cuesta player since 2017 and placed among the program's all-time Top 20 games.
Men's Basketball finished its pre-conference play with a 9-7 record.
