Men's Basketball Falls To SBCC, Cougars Seek Revenge in Saturday Rematch

Men's Basketball remains winless against the Western State Conference after falling to Santa Barbara City in overtime, 86-83.  The two teams played even all game, but with just over a minute left in regulation the Cougars had built their biggest lead of the game and led the Vaqueros by eight points.  The Cougars still lead by five points with 23 ticks left on the clock, but the Santa Barbara caught them at 70-70 with four seconds remaining in regulation.  Cuesta Guard Drew Ardouin (pict), who scored a game-high 28 points, scored to give the Cougars back the advantage with two second left, only to have the Vaq's net a pair of free throws and force overtime.  Two Cuesta starters fouled out in the extra time and the Vaqueros pulled away to victory by converting six of their seven free throws in the final period.  The loss drops the Cougars 9-12 on the season and 0-5 against the Western State Conference.

The Cougars complete their first swing through the WSC circuit this Wednesday (7 PM) against LA Pierce in Woodland Hills.  The Cougars also kick-off the second round on Saturday (5 PM) with a re-match against the Vaqueros in Santa Barbara.
