Cuesta Men's Basketball- The Scariest Team in the State

Men's Basketball is only one game over .500 at 13-12 but are the team nobody in the State wants to play.  Last week the Cougars knocked off two more ranked teams to boost their season-long record against ranked teams to 6-9.  In their nine setbacks against ranked teams, Cuesta own an average losing margin of under 10 points, while winning at an 8-point clip in their half-dozen upset victories.  Unfortunately, Cuesta endured a five-game slump to begin conference play, which may cost them a chance at the post-season, but last week's victories over #20 Ventura and #25 Allan Hancock make the Cougars the most dangerous team in the State.  The Cougars are riding a season-best four-game winning streak and have two Western State Conference games on their schedule this week.  They host Oxnard on Wednesday (7 PM) and travel to Moorpark on Saturday (7 PM).  The Condors beat the Cougars by a basket in their first-round game in Oxnard, while the visiting Raiders beat the Cougars by a dozen points, which marks Cuesta's worst home loss since last season.

Cuesta knocked off Ventura, 71-70, on Wednesday, in front of the Cougars' home faithful, with a game-winning three-pointer by Freshman Guard Drew Ardouin, while Sophomore Forward Mason Romano's (pict-R) tip-in topped local rival Allan Hancock, 74-73, in Santa Maria on Saturday.    Ardouin also led the Cougars with 25 points against the Bulldogs as All-WSC Forward Juani Dassie (pict-L) poured in 24 points, while posting team-highs with six rebounds and three steals.
