Men's Basketball opened the 2023-24 season at West Hills Lemoore last Thursday with an overtime loss to the host Golden Eagles, 101-94.  The Cougars held an eight-point lead at the intermission, after scoring 54 points in the first twenty minutes, but added only forty points in the second half and overtime.  2023 All-WSC First Team Guard Drew Ardouin began the season right where he left off.  Ardouin scored a game-high 40 points, while tying for the team-high with 12 rebounds. Newcomers Ethan Walker and TJ Maveety also looked sharp in the loss.   Walker was second on the team with 15 points and added eight rebounds, while Maveety chased a triple-double with 10 points, a dozen boards and a team-high five assists.  The Cougars are 0-1 on the season and host three games this week.

Cuesta's cagers host Lemoore's sister school West Hills-Coalinga on Tuesday (7 PM) and host the Hinson's Tire Pros Tournament on Friday and Saturday.  The Cougars and local rival Allan Hancock will join Cuesta's women's team for a basketball tripleheader on both nights, with the men's team will play the finale each night.  On Friday (7 PM) the Cougars play Gavilan, while Allan Hancock faces Sequoias, and then swap with partners with the Bulldogs to close the tournament against Sequoias on Saturday (5 PM).
