Men's Basketball Nets a Season-High to beat Oxnard, 97-89

Men's Basketball scored a season-high 97 points to beat visiting Oxnard, 97-89, in a Western State Conference game.  The Cougars tally marked the most points for the team since scoring 102 points against the Hartnell Panthers on December 10, 2022.  2023 All-WSC First Team Guard Drew Ardouin scored 18 points in that game but led all scorers with 30 points tonight.  Ardouin currently owns five career 30-point games at Cuesta, including the last two games, and has moved into 11th place on the Cougars' all-time scoring list with 950 career points.  Ardouin is only six points away from the Top 10 and 50 points from becoming the sixth Cougar, and second Atascadero High Alum (Mecklen Davis), to eclipse the millennium mark.  In all, nine Cuesta players scored against the visiting Condors, including Forwards Ethan Walker (pict) and TJ Maveety. Walker posted a double-double with 18 points, on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and making all six of his free throws, in addition to corralling a game-high 12 rebounds.  Maveety added 16 points and nine rebounds, while also posting game-highs with both five assists and two blocked shots. The Cougars are currently 7-12 overall but have pulled even in the WSC with a 2-2 record against the loop.

The Cougars shall enjoy a WSC-bye next Wednesday but will be back in action next Saturday (1 PM) at Moorpark.
