Men's Basketball improved to 4-3 in Western State Conference play and 9-14 overall after beating Santa Barbara City, 74-62, in the Cougars' Stork Gym. The visiting Vaqueros opened the game strong and led at halftime, 35-33, but Cuesta regained its form after the intermission and outscored the guests, 41-27, down the stretch. All-WSC Performer Drew Ardouin earned a lot of attention from the Vaqueros' defense, but still managed to shake his shadow to score a game-high 24 points. The Cougars' Guard-tandem of Stevie Waiters and Jabral Ray both joined Ardouin by scoring in double-digits with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Waiters also added a game-high five assists.
The Cougars continue their second swing through the WSC-North Division as they prepare to avenge a pair of first round losses. Cuesta travels to Ventura on Wednesday (5 PM) and hosts #12 Allan Hancock on Saturday (3 PM). Both games are scheduled as the front end of a men's and women's doubleheader.
