Cuesta Men's Swim & Dive Claims Mt SAC Title

Cuesta Men's Swimming and Diving dominated its first big invitational swim meet and earned the team title at the 20-team, Mt San Antonio Invitational last Saturday.  The Cougars scored 966 total team points to outpace their host and Runner-up Mt SAC by 325 points.  Cuesta claimed the title in 14 of 20 swimming events and boasted at least second place in four others.  Freshman Andrew Lopez led the Cougars with four individual titles, including both the 200 and 400 Individual Medleys and the 100 and 200 breaststrokes.  2021 Cuesta Athlete of the Year Lucas Esenwein added three more titles in the 50, 100 and 200-freestyles, but was touched-out in the 100-butterfly.

The Cougars take this week off and return to action on March 10 for the Cuesta Sprint Meet.  On March 11 the Cougars host the 43rd Cuesta-Arena Invitational.  The invitational was formerly the largest collegiate invitational in the nation, with over 40 teams and 2,000 participants, but, due to COVID, less than half that number is expected to attend this year's event.
