Men's and Women's Swimming Both Win at WSC Mini Meet

Cuesta's Swim and Dive teams brought home a pair of titles from their final Western State Conference Mini Meet.  The Aqua-Cats travelled to Ventura on Friday for the six team meet and the women's victory marked the team's first event title of the season, while, following another dominant performance, the Men's team remained undefeated.  The final results have not been posted, but the Cuesta men easily won their eighth straight event and should vie for the program's first CCCAA State Title next month.  The men have won 16 conference titles since the program's founding in 1979, including last season.  The program has finished in the Top 5 at the CCCAA State Championships ten times since 1992, including 2nd three times, but is still chasing an elusive State Title.  Cuesta as an institution has not won any CCCAA Titles since Women's Volleyball won back-to-back titles in 1985 and 1986, however Cuesta College has collected eight Silvers in the interim- Men's Water Polo (1989, 1990), Women's Swim & Dive (1993), Men's Swim & Dive (1995, 2001, 2002), Women's Tennis (1998) and Wrestling (2003).  This could be the year the Cougars get over the hump.

Swimming has backed out of the Pasadena Invitational and will head East, instead of South, to compete in the Bakersfield Invitational this Friday.
