Men's Swimming Wins at Bakersfield to Remain Undefeated

Men's Swimming remains undefeated on the season as the Aqua-Cats claimed the Bakersfield Invitational on Friday.  The Cougars won all, but two events and took second place in both of those.  2021 Cuesta Male Athlete of the Year Lucas Esenwein joined Ethan Perry with a pair of victories each.  Esenwein won the 100-butterfly and 50-freestyle, his specialty, while Perry took the 200-individual medley and 100-backstroke.  Esenwein also joined Perry's twin brother Stash Perry by posting a new Cuesta Top 10 Mark.  Esenwein moved up to 8th all time in the 100-butterfly (:52.19), while Perry's victory in the 1000-freestyle time landed him in 7th all time (10:30.49).  Cuesta boasted six swimmers among the meet's Top 10 scorers as they cruised to victory by collecting 165 of a possible 285 points.  The Cougars also received event titles from Caleb Ray and Ethan Streker in the 200-freestyle and 100-backstroke, respectively.  The Cougars have placed first in all nine of their events this season.

Cuesta's Swimmers begin their taper this week and host the 2022 Western State Conference Meet starting on April 21.
