Undefeated Men's Swimming Travels to the NorCal Invitational this Week

Men's Swimming claimed its third straight meet with a win at last week's WSC Mini Meet at LA Valley College in Van Nuys.  The team compiled 410 of a possible 1,909 points and easily outpointed Runner-up Santa Monica's 323 total points.  The Cougars brought only ten aquajocks to the meet and won five of the 12 individual events but did not claim any of the five relays.  All Americans Andrew Lopez (pict) and Stash Perry did most of the damage for the Cougars by combing to win five individual events.  Lopez led the meet with three event titles and 60 individual points.  He easily won his specialties, the 200-breastroke (2:16.21) and 400-individual medley (4:40.26), but also jumped in to take the ultra-competitive 100-freestyle (:49.09) over 30 other competitors.  Perry won two of his three individual events, taking both the 200-freestyle (1:47.24) and 200-butterfly (2:02.12), while landing in 2nd for the 500-free (4:49.86).  Freshman Gage Price and Sophomore Tre Eade followed Lopez in Perry in the individual standings with 3rd and 4th place, respectively, despite missing out on an event title.

This week the Aqua-Cats travel to Santa Rosa for their first big championship meet of the season.  The Cougars previously had their trip to the Mt San Antonio Invitational and their home Arena Invitational cancelled due to inclement weather, so this season the Cougars have only been able to compete in smaller conference meets.  This weekend marks the first time the Cougars will be able to measure themselves against other teams in the State.  Last year, both Cuesta's men's and women's teams took 3rd place at the 2022 CCCAA State Championship
