The 2023 Western State Conference Swim & Dive Championships open this Friday and Saturday at Cypress College with the regional diving meet.  This is the first time in decades that the diving meet will be held outdoors, however the format remains the same with all of the CCCAA Southern California Region's schools sending their diving teams to the event.  The meet shall simultaneously score the divers for points within their conference competition, while judges shall also rank the divers as a region to qualify for the State Meet.  

Cuesta boasts 36 All American awards, including five State titles in diving since 1986, from the men's team and 54 All Americans and four titles for the women.  This season, the women will not send any divers, however the men will be sending three athletes to this year's competition.  Freshman Matthew Wheeler has been the Cougars' top scorer on the planks this season and will be joined by fellow Rookies Jake Escobar and Jake Burns.  The trio's points will be added to Cuesta points in the lanes at the swimming portion of the 2023 WSC Championships at LA Valley College on April 20-22.
