Men's Swim & Dive Wins First WSC Mini Meet, Travels to Mt SAC This Weekend

Cuesta Men's Swim & Dive won its second straight meet of the season by winning the season's first WSC Mini Meet.  Five Western State Conference teams met in Bakersfield on Friday for a 14-event Meet.  Cuesta's men scored 274 out of 287 points and nearly double the score of host and runner-up Bakersfield (148).  Cuesta Seth Boyer eclipsed teammate Jacob Slotemaker by one-point and led all swimmers with 21 individual points.  Boyer and Slotemaker were followed by six other Cougars in the Top 10.  2023 All American Ethan Merritt was one of four Aqua-cats to win two individual events.  Merritt won the 100 (1:00.68) and 200 (2:14.27) breaststrokes, while Freshmen Brady LindJakob Baier and Lloyd Esola were also double winners.  Lind won the 200-Individual Medley (2:04.82) and 100-Freestyle (:48.00), while Baier powered out the 100-Butterfly (:57.09) and 200-Freestyle ((1:56.82) as Esola claimed both backstrokes- 100 (1:03.02) and 200 (2:13.83).  

The Cougars are back in action this weekend for their first large meet.  The Aqua-Cats will spend this Friday and Saturday at the Mt San Antonio Invitational in Walnut.  The Mounties meet is expected to draw between 15-20 teams and will be a good warm-up for the Cougars' 45th Invitational the next week.
