Men's Swimming has won four of its five meets this season and last week's dominance at Western State Conference Mini Meet #2 has put them in the driver's seat. The Cougars scored 632 of a possible 2,298 points in the nine-team event and nearly doubled Runner-up Los Angeles Valley's 397 points. The Cougars only won six of the 20 events, but had, at least, one swimmer in the Top 3 in nine of the events. Freshman Brady Lind led the meet with a perfect score of 60 points, after winning all three of his events. He posted a season-best time of 4:31.42 to win the 400-individual medley, while also easily taking the 100-butterfly and 100-backstroke. Freshman Conner Rocha tied for 2nd place in points with 57. He won the 500-freestyle and 200-butterfly and nabbed Silver in the 200-freestyle. Freshman Seth Boyer was the only other Cougar to place among the Top 10 individuals. Boyer finished 5th overall with 54 individual points, by skipping the relays and adding a fourth individual event. Boyer made the Top 8 in each event, with his Silver in the 200-butterfly, just behind Rocha, as his best finish.
Cuesta's Swim & Dive teams travel to the Northern California Invitational this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Santa Rosa College. The NorCal Invitational is the Cougars' third and final multi-day championship meet of the season, until the conference finals and CCCAA State Championships in late April and early May.
