Men's Swimming Wins Again at NorCal Invitational

Cuesta Men's Swim and Dive won its fifth meet in six tries this season and continues to rank among the State's elite teams.  Last week at the Northern California Invitational, the Cougars racked up 751 points to outpace meet runner-up Las Positas by over 250 points.  The Cougars won 11 of the 20 individual events and boasted the meet's Top 4 spots on the individual point-list.  Freshman Conner Rocha led the with 81 individual points and set a new Cuesta Record with a winning time of :51.11 in the 100-butterfly.  Rocha also won the 200-fly (2:00.87) and reached the big finals in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles.  Fellow Freshman Brady Lind, returning All American Ethan Merritt and Rylan Stevenson completed the meets list of Top 4 scorers.  Lind dropped his 100-freestyle time by more than a full second to win his race, while Merritt earned Silvers in the 100 and 200-breasts.  Stevenson became the first Cuesta swimmer to break the 21-second barrier this season on his way to a win in the marquee 100-freestyle (:20.90). He also reached big finals in four other events.  

The Cougars compete in their third and final Western State Conference Mini Meet in Santa Maria this Friday (11 AM).
