Cougars' Katz Signs with Montana State-Billings

Cuesta College Track and Field Star Micah Katz has accepted a scholarship and is set to transfer to Montana State University-Billings.  Katz was an all-conference performer for the Cougars in 2019, but had his 2020 season cut short by the pandemic and sat out competition in 2021.  He has trained with the Cougars this Spring, but has not competed.  MSUB awarded Katz a partial tuition and still has multiple years of eligibility with the Yellow Jackets.  He should step directly into a prominant role in Montana, especially in the Discus and Shot Put.

Katz came to Cuesta from nearby Paso Robles High School and estabished himself as a state contender during his freshman season, however his past two seasons have been overshadowed by the pandemic.  In 2019, he was accorded all-Western State Conference Honorable Mention in the Discus and also qualified for the 2019 CCCAA Regional Championship.   He was also 4th on the team in both the Hammer (113-8) and Shot Put (38-6.75), but in 2020 he concentrated solely on the Discus and Shot Put.  He added five more feet to his best in the Shot Put (41.75) and six feet to his Discus (143-8).  He currently ranks 7th all time at Cuesta for the Discus.  Montana State University-Billings competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and at the NCAA Division II level.
