Coach Brian Locher says, "Gabe arrived at Cuesta College as a highly sought-after recruit from Paso Robles and he did not disappoint in his first season wearing green and black.  Gabe became the farthest throwing Discus athlete in California Community College in the last 10 years with a monster toss of 57.50 (188'8") at the WSC Finals.  Gabe's toss also helped him become a school record holder at Cuesta College in the discus event by over 30 feet, a mark that may never be surpassed, unless by Gabe himself in the 2022 season.  Gabe also threw the shot put 14.00 meters (45'11") to finish 3rd in the WSC and become a top 10 all time shot putter at Cuesta College.
