Men's Track & Field Finishes 5th at WSC North Meet

Cuesta Track & Field competed at the 2022 Western State Conference North Meet last Friday in Bakersfield and took 4th place out of six teams.  The Cougars won three individual events and were led by Cuesta Record Holder Gabriel Katches in the throwing events.  Katches easily won the Shot Put with a toss of 44-4.25, by seven feet, and still fell three-feet short of his personal best.  He also took the Discus with a toss of 175-11, while remaining 13-feet short of his Cuesta Record.  Sprinter Connor Prichard won the Cougars' other title by clearing the 100-meter race in :11.09 and earning the title "Meet's Fastest Man".   Prichard also took 3rd in the 200-meters.  Sprinter Evan Schweitzer and Pole Vaulter Jozie Jewel both brought home a pair of Silvers for the Cougars.  Schweitzer finished second in the 400-meters (:50.91), while Jewel cleared 10-6 in the Pole Vault.  The Cougars also claimed 2nd place in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Cuesta Track & Field travels to Santa Rosa this Thursday and Friday for the Wildcat Cup.  The event is hosted every year by a school coached by a former Chico State Wildcat, like Cuesta Coach Brian Locher.  The host Bear Cubs Coach David Wellman competed for Chico State.
