Men's Track Heads to Western State Conference Finals

Cuesta Men's Track and Field heads to the 2022 Western State Conference Finals this at Santa Monica City College.  The Cougars advanced two track athletes in four events from last weekend's WSC Preliminary Meet but will also have their Pole Vaulters and Throwers in action this week.  All-WSC Harrier Luis Cervantes earned all-WSC honors last week with a 5th place finish in the 10,000-meter run (33:27.66) will also have a chance to join his teammates for the 5K this week.  In the shorter track events, Sprinter Connor Prichard will compete in the 100 and 200-meter finals, while Hurdler Cameron Avila competes in the 110 and 400 hurdles.  Prichard is a potential title winner for Cuesta.  He ranks 6th all time at Cuesta in the 200-meters (:22.00) and qualified 4th in the event. Avila qualified 8th in the 100 Hurdles and 7th in the 400 Hurdles.  Steepler Axel Reich rounds out the Cougars' track contingent.  

The Cougars also get to bring their throwers and pole vaulters for the WSC Finals.  Pole Vaulters Dean Dodge and Jozie Jewel (pict) are expected to continue the Cougars' dominance in the event, while Cuesta Record Holder Gabriel Katches is favored in both the Shot Put and Discus.
