Men's Track Finishes 6th in WSC, Heads to Regional this Week

Cuesta Men's Track & Field finished 6th at Western State Conference Championships last week Santa Monica.  The men were led by 2021 Cuesta Team MVP Gabriel Katches, who won a pair of WSC titles.  Katches won both the Discus and Shot Put and is among the State Title favorites in both.  He currently ranks 1st in the Discus and 10th in the Shot Put in the State's overall rankings, as well as 1st and 6th, respectively, all time at Cuesta.  The Cougars also enjoyed three all-WSC performances on the track.  Sprinter Connor Prichard was the Cougars' second leading scorer, just one point behind Katches.  Prichard, who ranks 6th all time at Cuesta for both events, finished 2nd the 200m with a time of :20.04, while also taking the Bronze in the 100m at :10.89.  He also picked up points as a member of the Cougars' 4x100 and 4x400 Relays, which finished 6th and 7th overall.  Harrier Luis Cervantes added another all-WSC honor to his collection, after earning all-WSC during cross country last fall.  Cervantes finished 5th in the 10,000m with a time of 16:31.09.

The Cougars are set to compete in the 2022 CCCAA Southern California Regional Preliminary Meet this Friday (11 AM) at Moorpark College.
