Cuesta Men's Track and Field is currently tied for 9th place as they head into the 2022 CCCAA Regional Finals at Moorpark this weekend.  All five of the Cougars team points came from Cuesta Record Holder Gabriel Katches's fourth place finish in the Shot Put, where hurled a personal-best 48-6.75 to move into 6th all time at Cuesta.  He will compete in the Discus this weekend, his signature event, and chase his own school record.  Katches will be joined by Harrier Luis Cervantes in the 5,000-meter run.  The duo stand as the Cougars' best hopes for a CCCAA State Championship Qualifier.  Cuesta had two near misses in the Prelims with Sprinters Connor Prichard and Evan Schweitzer.  Prichard, who ranks 6th all time at Cuesta in the 200m, fell off pace and finished in 13th place, while Schweitzer finished 16th in a very fast 400m heat.  Schweitzer's season-best time of :49.74 moved him into the final spot of Cuesta's All Time Top 10 for the event, but not to the CCCAA Regional Finals.
