Cuesta Record Holder Gabriel Katches (pict) qualified for the 2022 CCCAA State Track & Field Championship in two events and will carry all of his team's hopes. Katches is the Cougars' only State Qualifier on the men's side and is poised to earn all-State honors in both his events (Top 4). His Discus mark of 187-9 leads the State and his Shot Put of 48-6.75 is in the Top 10. Katches set Cuesta's Discus record (188-8) last year and last week's Shot Put toss moved him up to 6th all time. Katches scored all 15 of the Cougars' team points at the CCCAA Regional Meet and the team landed in 10th place. This weekend marks the first time the State Meet has been held since 2019, when Katches' Sister Hannah Katches earned all-State honors for Cuesta in the Javelin.
The 2022 CCCAA State Track & Field Championships shall be held this Friday and Saturday at Mt San Antonio College in Walnut
