Cougars to Host the WSC Coast Meet this Friday

Track & Field hosts the 2023 Western State Conference Coast Meet in San Luis Obispo this Friday (10 AM).  The Cougars welcome half of the WSC's teams, those located along the 101 Highway corridor, as part of two simultaneous conference mini meets. This weekend the Cougars are joined by five other WSC programs- Allan Hancock, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Moorpark, and West Los Angeles.  Last year, Cuesta won the women's competition, before finishing the season 2nd in the circuit overall and, eventually, 6th at the 2022 CCCAA State Championship.  Moorpark claimed the men's division, while Cuesta took 5th, at the 2022 Coast Meet.  The Cougars' men later took 6th in the conference finals and 18th in the State.  Track & Field has had three of their past four competitions cancelled, due to inclement weather, so this week's meet marks the program's first community college competition since the season-opening WSC Relays on February 17.

Each season, the WSC circuit splits for two mini meets, based on geography, before the WSC Championships kick-off the post-season over the last week of April.  The Cougars have hosted the Coast Meet for the past five years, while also participating in the North meet.  The Inland and South meets shall be hosted by other members of the 15-team conference.
