Men's Track & Field Preps for Championship Month

Men's Track & Field attended the Vaquero Open last weekend as part of a final tune-up before the CCCAA's month-long competition to qualify for the State Meet.  First-year Coach Robert Neely has his team primed for the next month after watching his men's and women's teams combined to post a dozen season-best marks in Glendale.

On the men's side, third-year Sprinter Connor Prichard, who survived the Cougars' abbreviated Covid season in 2021, posted a par of career-best marks and moved higher on Cuesta's All Time Top 10.  Prichard cleared the 100m dash in :10.85 and went twice as far in :21.89 in the 200m.  He also moved up to 5th all time in the 100m and 6th in the 200m.  Harrier Anthony Erikson also lopped a huge amount of time in both his 800m (1:59.26) and 1,500m (3:58.60).  He missed Cuesta's Top 10 in the metric-mile by only four-hundredths of a second.

Track and Field has a one-week break and begins elimination month on Friday (11 AM), April 20th with the 2023 Western State Conference Preliminaries at Antelope Valley in Lancaster.  The WSC finals are scheduled for the next Friday in Moorpark.  The CCCAA Southern California Regional Prelims and Finals opne the first two weekends of April in San Diego with the CCCAA State Track & Field Championships scheduled for Modesto on the 19-20th
