Men's Track and Field Takes 3rd at WSC North Meet

Men's Track & Field placed third in the six-team Western State Conference North Meet at Cuesta College, while visiting Ventura won both the men's and women's competitions.  The Cougars won three individual events and garnered eleven individual podium worthy (Top 3) performances.  Freshman Leaper William Dawes led the way by winning the Triple Jump with a new Cuesta All Time Top 10 mark of 44-0.  Dawes's new mark gave him 10th all time at Cuesta, but also edged out his teammate and event Runner-up Dylan Ervin, who cleared 41-11.25.   Dawes also added his own Runner-up spot in the Long Jump (22-0.5).  The Cougars also received event titles from Hurdler Gal Rivlin and High Jumper Trevor Parsons.  Rivlin edged Decathlete Joseph Tugwell in a 1-2 showdown in the 400-hurdles at :59.68 and 1:03.33, respectively, while Parsons slipped past teammate and Runner-up Cal Corn in the High Jump based on total misses after they both cleared 5-7.  Tugwell also posted a pair of Silvers in the Javelin (133-10.75) and 100-hurdles (:16.93).  2023 All State Performer Anthony Erikson joined Tugwell by earning his own a pair of second place finishes in the 800 (1:58.65) and 1,500-meter runs (4:01.41).

The Cougars take next week off and are back in action at the Henry Kirk Invitational at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria on March 8.
