Cuesta College's 2021 Female Athlete of the Year, Coach Madeline Fletcher returned to the Cougars after completing her collegiate career at St Mary's University in Moraga. She was a mid-distance star as a collegian, but also extended herself into other completive events. Fletcher set the Gaels 200m record at :26.82 in her second race and later dropped that mark a half second to :26.47. While she excelled at the mid-distance events, Fletcher also competed in the 100-hurdles and extended herself in the mile at St Mary's, as well as the Shot Put, Long and Triple Jumps. The two-time WSC Champion still ranks in the Cuesta's Top 10 in the 200 (:26.13), 400 (:59.44) and 800-meter runs (2:17.49).
Coach Fletcher grew up in San Luis Obispo and is a graduate of SLO High.
