Poloists Host WSC Mini in Return to Action

Cuesta Men's and Women's Water Polo teams will host a pair of Western State Conference rivals for a mini tournament this Saturday.  The expansive Western State Conference allows certain sports to adjust their schedule to accommodate long travel times.  This Saturday the Cougars shall be joined by both Citrus College, from Glendora, and Santa Monica City for their single round of in season conference games before the conference tournament the week after Halloween.   The men's team will play three of its four Western State Conference games this week.  On Wednesday (3:30), they travel to Van Nuys to play Los Angeles Valley College for their first official conference game.  The Cougars already played, and beat, the Monarchs, 18-7, in a tournament two weeks ago.  On Saturday the men open the tournament against Citrus (10 AM), while the women's game follows directly after (11:15).  The Cougars get a break after the opener as the Owls' men and women play against Santa Monica.  The men at 12:30 and the women at 1:45. The Corsairs will stick around for the final round against the Cougars with the men playing at 3:15 and the women at 4:30.  This week marks the first official Western State Conference games for both Cuesta teams, as well as the women's first action since September 18.  The men complete their WSC single round this weekend, while the women have four WSC games remaining on their schedule- LA Valley (10/13), Ventura & Pierce (10/15) and Santa Barbara (10/30).  The Western State Conference Tournament is scheduled for the first week in November at LA Valley College in Van Nuys.
