Cuesta Men's Water Polo is home again this weekend to host its second major tournament of the year, the aptly named Arena Cuesta II Tournament, this Friday and Saturday.  The event features 11 teams combining to play 20 games over the weekend.  The Cougars have loaded their schedule and being a good host, will play six games and face half of the event's field.   Cuesta will get right to work on Friday and test their roster's quality depth by playing three of the first four games, before taking the rest of the day off.  The Cougars kick-off the tournament on Friday with a 7:30 AM game against Merced in a semi-make-up game.  The Cougars and Blue Devils were supposed to meet opening weekend in Merced, but the game was cancelled due to poor air quality.  Cuesta will then take a one-game break and get back in the tank at 9:40 to play Las Positas.  This is the Cougars first official game with the Hawks; however, they did scrimmage during the pre-season.  Cuesta's most important game begins directly after their showdown with the Hawks, when they play a Western State Conference game against Ventura (10:45).  This is a re-match for the Cougars and Pirates, but this time it will count in the conference standings.  The Cougars beat the Pirates, 12-5, in their first meeting on September 25, however they are both currently undefeated in WSC play and tied atop the leaderboard.  On Saturday, Cuesta has a more leisurely schedule.  The Cougars do not play their first game against Sierra until 9:30 and enjoy large breaks between each of their next two games. The Wolverines reached the 2019 CCCAA State Championship Semi-finals and should pose a significant challenge for the Cougars.  Cuesta also plays Ohlone, another 2019 playoff team, at 12:55 and Modesto, who leads Northern California with 13 wins this season, at 4:10 to finish the event.
