Men's Polo Returns to Action this Week at Mt SAC

Men's Water Polo has been using one of the longest breaks in program history to prepare for the Mt San Antonio Tournament this Friday and Saturday, which will kick off is a run of nine games in eight days.  The Cougars, who have not played a game since August 26, a three-week stretch that is unheard of for one of the State's most famous road warriors, but the team has practicing hard and battling daily in fiercely competitive intra-squad scrimmages. Cuesta, which reached the 2021 CCCAA Regional Semi-Finals and has not missed the playoffs EVER, is currently 3-0.  The Cougars will open the tournament on Friday (10:55) morning against Southwestern out of San Diego, before playing Orange Coast (4:20).  The Cougars have never lost to the Jaguars, including a 21-4 victory in 2021, but had to squeak out a one-point victory over Orange Coast, 8-7, in the CCCAA Regional Quarterfinals.  On Saturday, Cuesta has two more contests on the docket.  They play Rio Hondo (7:40) and face Fullerton for the first time since 2014.  In their last meeting, the Hornets beat the Cougars in the opening round 2014 CCCAA Regional Playoffs, which marked one of only four times over Coach John Marsh's 17-straight playoff appearances that his team did not advance in the playoffs.

The Cougars trip to the West Valley Tournament was cancelled last week.
