Cuesta Men's Water Polo bounced back from its first setback of the season, on Thursday, to pick-up two wins on the first day of their 43rd Arena Water Polo Invitational.  The Cougars knocked off unranked Merced, 17-1, in their tournament opener and closed the day with a win over #7 Long Beach, 13-5.  The pair of victories moved the Cougars to 9-1 on the season.  

The Invitational continues tomorrow with a full slate of games.  The first games begin at 7 AM, but the host Cougars will not break the water until 9:20 AM.  Cuesta opens the day against Miramar and ends the day against #13 Riverside (2 PM).  The Cougars played Miramar for the first time ever last season and beat the Jets, 30-16.  In their tournament finale, the Tigers have been a longtime rival, however Cuesta has a recent edge in their series.  The Cougars won five of their past six meetings, since 2017, yet among those five victories were three one-points games, including a pair of overtime contests.
