Cuesta Men's Water Polo entered last week with a sterling 12-1 record but went 4-3 on the week.  The Cougars, ranked #3 in the CCCAA, played seven games in four days and opened with a win at home against Western State Conference Rival #8 LA Valley, 8-5.  The Cougars beat the Monarchs, before sweeping the rest of the loop.  On Thursday, the Poloists travelled to Glendora and beat two more WSC teams.  They knocked off the host Owls, 17-9, and beat Santa Monica, 19-4.  The Cougars cleared their regular season WSC schedule with a 4-0 mark against the circuit to earn a first-round bye in the season-ending WSC Tournament.  On Friday, Cuesta tasted defeat for only the second time this season and snapped an eight-game winning streak at the Cal Baptist Tournament. They opened the day with a loss to nationally ranked #8 UC Santa Barbara, 11-9, before falling to host #16 Cal Baptist, 17-7.  On Saturday in La Mirada, the Cougars were better adjusted to life outside the community college ranks, when they played both Toronto University and Biola.  The Cougars beat the "Varsity Blues", 11-8, before the host Eagles edged them, 13-12.  Cuesta is currently 16-4 on the season and atop the WSC rankings with a 4-0 mark against the conference.  

The Poloists return from their long road trip to host the Cuesta II Tournament this Friday and Saturday.  The Cougars shall play two games each day.  They play Las Positas (8 AM) and Saddleback (12:40) on Friday and San Diego Mesa (9:20) and Diablo Valley (2 PM) on Saturday.
