Cuesta Harriers 5th at WSC Championships

Cuesta Men's Cross Country finished 5th out of a dozen teams at the 2021 Western State Conference Championships at Legg Lake in Los Angeles.  Four members of the Cougars squad also earned all-WSC honors.  Returning Freshman Luis Cervantes (Santa Maria: Righetti HS) was the first Cuesta Harrier across the line and finished 17th overall (20:48.7), while fellow Returning Freshman Jordan Reilly (St Helena HS) was right behind him in 19th place (20:52.9).  Both were named to the 2021 Western State Conference Second Team.  Freshmen Xander Mahan (Nipomo HS) and Nicolas Moore (San Andreas) were the next two Cougars across the line and both earned all-WSC Honorable Mention, after finishing 33rd (21:36.4) and 39th (22:04.4) places.  Sophomore Brenden Niller (Templeton HS) rounded out the Cougars' scoring team in 48th place.  

The Cougars 5th place finish also allowed them to extend their season.  The Harriers qualified for the 2021 CCCAA Regional Finals at Irvine Regional Park on November 5 (Noon).
