Cross Country Competes in the 2022 WSC Championships on Friday

The 2022 Western State Conference Cross Country Championship is the final regular season contest for the Cuesta Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams.  The WSC Finals are hosted by Ventura College and shall be held at Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura this Friday, October 21.  The women's race is scheduled for 10 AM, while the men's competition is slated for an 11 AM start.

Cuesta's men are currently ranked 6th in the Western State Conference and have been led all season by Returning Team MVP Jordan Reilly and all-WSC Harrier Nic Miller.  The Cougars do expect several of their Harriers to move onto to the Regional and State Meets, especially Newcomers Anthony Erickson and Axel Reich, who have been finished directly behind Reilly in every race.   The Cougars have a good mixture of talent, depth and experience, which should be on full display this weekend.

The women have not had a scoring team this season, but still boast three potential State Qualifiers.  2021 State Qualifiers Dulce Esquivel and Adrienne Frere are both expected to return to the meet, while Freshman Paige Medrano has been sandwiched between both sophomores in every finish this season.  Esquivel finished 5th in the 2021 WSC Meet and also made the all-CCCAA Regional team, before finishing 35th at the State Meet.  Frere skipped the 2021 WSC Meet, before landing in 45th place in both the Regional and State Meets.  Every member of the trio has the potential to earn all-Conference honors this week and qualify for the CCCAA Regional Meet.
