Men's Cross Country Takes 6th at WSC Finals

Men's Cross Country took 6th place at the 2022 Western State Conference finals to land in the middle of the 11-team competition.  2021 State Qualifier Jordan Reilly led the Cougars for the seventh straight time, dating back to the 2021Regional Meet, with a time of 21:37.3 to finish in 19th place.  Reilly earned all-WSC Second Team honors for the second straight season and was joined on the unit by Freshman Anthony Erikson.  Erickson, in only his fourth start of the season, claimed 22nd place and finished three places and 13 seconds behind Reilly.  First-year Harrier Axel Reich was the third Cougar across the line and took 34th place in just 23:00.5 to earn all-WSC Honorable Mention.  2021 State Qualifier Nic Moore was sandwiched between Freshmen Deegan Miller and Jorge Merced as the trio completed the race as a pack.  The trio took the 63rd to 65th places and crossed the line within eight seconds of each other.

Next up for the Cougars is the 2022 CCCAA Southern Regional Meet in Bakersfield on November 4.  A strong placing at the regional finals would vault the Cougars into the CCCAA State Championship the week before Thanksgiving.  Cuesta Men's Cross Country has reached the State Meet in 11 of the past 13 seasons, including the 2014 season when current Head Coach Connor Fisher was on the course.  Reilly and Moore would also be the Cougars' first two-time State Qualifiers since Kobi Kelly in 2016-17.
