Harriers Jordan Reilly and Anthony Erikson Qualify for State

Men's Cross Country finished 17th at the 2022 CCCAA Regional Meet and qualified two harriers, Jordan Reilly and Anthony Erikson, for the 2022 CCCAA State Cross Country Championships this Saturday (11 AM) at Fresno's Woodward Park.  Both runners were named to the 2022 Western State Conference Second Team and led the Cougars to 6th place in the WSC.  This season marked Reilly's second time on the all-WSC Second Team, and this weekend will mark his second trip to the State Meet.  Reilly, the Cougars 2021 Team MVP, finished 51st at last year's CCCAA State Meet and he posted the 19th fastest State Meet time (21:23.3), on record, by a Cuesta Harrier.  Erikson was a late bloomer this season and did not appear in his first meet until September 23, but immediately slid behind Reilly as the Cougars #2 runner.  Erikson has been within ten places and twenty-seconds of Reilly in each of their past four starts, so the Cougars hope the duo keeps their two-man team near the front of the pack this weekend.  This year marks only the third time in the past decade and a half that the Cougars have not qualified for the State Meet as a team.
