Cuesta's academic "Spring Break" is scheduled for this week and Cuesta Softball is taking full advantage of a week without classes.  The Cougars open the week with a pair of Western State Conference games and then head to the Ventura Tournament for a weekend full of games.  The Cougars begin the week at Santa Monica on Tuesday (2:30).  The host Corsairs are winless on the season and stuck in the WSC cellar and the Cougars, who in the middle of the pack, hope to keep them there.  On Thursday (2:30) the Cougars are back home for another WSC contest against local rival Allan Hancock.  The visiting Bulldogs are a half-game ahead of the Cougars in the loop's standing, so success on their home diamond could vault Cuesta up the table and past the rivals.  On Friday, Cuesta Softball is back on the road for the Ventura Tournament.  The tournament promises to be a good test for the Cougars.  They open with Fullerton (11:30), who is just outside the Top 20, and then play #10 Bakersfield (2 PM) on Friday.  On Saturday, the Cougars open against another bubble team in Antelope Valley (11:30), before closing the tournament against Glendale (2 PM).
